IKU-TURSO play a quite unique wild-melodic black metal style. Rough, with gnarled vocals, slightly obscure, but never too weird. A cover version of Darkthrone's "En Vind Av Sorg" fits perfectly well to the tracklist. Especially the first half of the album is excellent, the last three tracks are less catchy. Check the opener "Nkotimsefuopua".
Favorite track: Nkotimsefuopua.

Ikuinen Kirous - The Eternal Curse. Darkness can be found from every corner of the world at any time. On this new mini-album Iku-Turso explores some of the darkest and most evil tales collected from all over the world. Ranging from ancient stories from deep dark Africa, telling the story of Queen Mother in Nkotimsefuopua and Adinkra, to one of the bloodiest and ugliest stories of the northern Netherlands in Noirthoren. And going even further back in time to explore the dark side of biblical stories in Eben-Ezer. Even the history of math has a dark side, as explored in the song Gauss.
Musically Iku-Turso takes a step back into the raw sound of Black Metal of the early nineties. Raw, filthy, barbaric, straightforward black metal, with catchy hooks and shrieking vocals.
This is Pure Spitefull Darkness.

I only discovered IKU-TURSO by a split release with Kalmankantaja and was overwhelmed afterwards by their latest release "Pakana". As the Finnish atmosphere, the piercing guitars and perfect interaction of melodies and harsh black metal thrills me, I ended up putting all releases of this Nordic horde to my collection. I can only recommend doing so, as grand songs like "Bleached Bones in Utter Darkness" should simply be heard by all real black metal enthusiasts!
