mourner With this album I can't emphasize enough how important the vocals were/are for me to love it. Those clean chants are overwhelming when used. In addition to that you get diverse, well written and produced songs that will stay with you for a long time and provide you with perfectly balanced melody, darkness and a little aggression. Favorite track: Endless Whispers Echo.

Warangelic A monumental celebration of the past. It is indeed a nostalgic trip without it being a ripoff of the sounds that made black metal as big as it is. Grim and glorious. Favorite track: The Keys And Gates To Unhallowed Lands.

H.L. This album definitely honours the mid 90s, the glorious days of black metal. It is icy-melodic, dynamic and a bit weird in a demonic way. Sometimes the guitars remind me at Emperor, Burzum or S. Korpituli's other band Iku-Turso, the gnarled vocals go in the direction of Ancient. The album is also interesting, as the tracklist is so varied. The lively "In the Witches Circles" with its shouts for example is catchy and rousing other songs are darker or more atmospheric. Perfect for heavy rotation! Favorite track: In The Witches Circle.

Bit more aggressive and grim than the debut album "The Ancient Spells Of The Past" (2021) yet boiled in the same sultry broth not entirely forgetting the hypnotic dreamy tunes of the past.

Mythical nightfires burning in the nightsky as the vast shadows of infinity embrace us, we hear the endless whispers echoing amidst the hazy smoke of nostalgia that lingers in our feet, we feel the lost sorrow of ages, never spoken of and the Witches they gather around us into their age old circle, a primordial spell is cast and in the shape of a wolf past the gates to unhallowed lands this one enters - let no sun rise again.

I only discovered IKU-TURSO by a split release with Kalmankantaja and was overwhelmed afterwards by their latest release "Pakana". As the Finnish atmosphere, the piercing guitars and perfect interaction of melodies and harsh black metal thrills me, I ended up putting all releases of this Nordic horde to my collection. I can only recommend doing so, as grand songs like "Bleached Bones in Utter Darkness" should simply be heard by all real black metal enthusiasts! H.L.
